Bankruptcy & Social Security Overpayment - Minnesota Bankruptcy Blog
Many if not most Social Security overpayment claims can be discharged in bankruptcy. When a debt like this is listed in a bankruptcy, it is going to be discharged unless the Social Security Administration successfully objects. it is helpful to check Social Security policies.

Don't be Tricked by Misleading Bankruptcy Attorney Fee Advertising - Minnesota Bankruptcy Blog
A lot of the advertising about attorney fees for bankruptcy is misleading. Today I checked on a lawyer ad that says he'll file for $99 and found it less than accurate.

Top Seven TO DO's Before Bankruptcy: Item 1 - Gather Your Financial Records - Minnesota Bankruptcy Blog
This is the first in a series of seven posts about my top seven things that you should do if you are preparing to file a bankruptcy or even just considering filing a bankruptcy - either Chapter 7 or Chapter 13. The first thing on my list is that you should gather the financial records that your attorney will be needing to process your case. These will include payroll check stubs, bank statements, mortgage records, and tax returns. You should also be gathering together your monthly statements for all your debts and any nasty letters you may be receiving from lawyers or collection agencies. You not only should gather what records you have, you should also start keeping records of all your financial transactions, especially expenses. Keep all your receipts. And certainly if there is legal action against you, keep all the paperwork from that.
